Jupiter Part 3

We were not finished.  The lighthouse and grounds were done, but we can never go out without fellowship over lunch.  So our next stop was over to ....

Lunch was amazing...I wish I had taken pictures of the food.  The time together was special and I was so thankful for the day, for the love, and the friendship. It felt like we had not been apart.  It felt like we had just had a little vacation. Of course I did, down in the Keys.

There is nothing nicer than a fine mist of water blowing onto you on a hot and humid day, especially after you have been climbing in a lighthouse.

A group of paddle boarders came on by and, low and behold, this was an interesting sight.  I just had to take a picture.

Once lunch was done, we were off walking around Guanabana's taking in the scenery.

Feel like hanging out and watching the water activities, plenty of relaxing chairs to do that.

The gardens are beautiful and it seemed like they were full of exotic succulent plants.

Of course I got to play in Photoshop and started adjusting colors and desaturating some colors and leaving others.  That was a new learning curve and lots of fun.

Best of all was the smile on my friends face.  A smile of knowing that all would be okay. A smile of knowing that she was loved.

We wandered around a bit more, took in some of the sights, waited for our car and just knew that we had been blessed by our Father.  This day was a day of joy despite the odds.

The treasure chest reminds me that friends are to be treasured.  Who are we without those we love?  Where do we fit in?  I am so thankful for this friend in my life, and all of those women who I am lucky to call friends.  Treasure your friends for they are the ones who will stand beside you in your greatest time of need.

Smile my sweet friend, there is more in store for you.  Plans to prosper you and not to harm you.  Plans that will challenge and force you to step out of your comfort zone.

You don't walk alone, you walk with the Almighty Father at your side, you just need to follow the footsteps.

“When we honestly ask ourselves which person in our lives mean the most to us, we often find that it is those who, instead of giving advice, solutions, or cures, have chosen rather to share our pain and touch our wounds with a warm and tender hand. The friend who can be silent with us in a moment of despair or confusion, who can stay with us in an hour of grief and bereavement, who can tolerate not knowing, not curing, not healing and face with us the reality of our powerlessness, that is a friend who cares.”

~ Henri J M Nouwen, The Road to Daybreak: A Spiritual Journey

Jupiter Inlet Part 2

 If you did not read the previous post click here to read it.  You may want to start at the beginning.  If not this was a day for my friend and I to connect and just enjoy each others company and all that the Jupiter light house had to offer.

In the previous blog I mentioned climbing the lighthouse.  Suffice to say we survived the trip without "tripping" and were ready to wander around the ground and see what was on offer.

I am a random photographer who will take pictures of things that capture my eye rather than "sights".

Bare with me as I share what captured my eye that day.

“Once again...welcome to my house. Come freely. Go safely; and leave something of the happiness you bring.”
~ Bram Stoker, Dracula
These chairs reminded me of that very thought.  Sit, be welcome, enjoy what we have to offer, leave with a new perspective and a better understanding.

Our view from the chairs was of this sailboat heading out to the inlet.  Oh to be sailing away for a day.  That could be fun.

I love these bridges.  I had never seen anything like this before moving to the USA, but they have quickly captured my attention.

I really like the image that this rusty old bolt created with the different colors and textures.  This is the kind of image that captures my eye.

We soon started to wander of from the water and around the grounds.   Flowers quickly captured our attention as we wandered around.

As did seeds...

And fruits..

And critters....

A good day was had by both of us.  Laughter, joy, friendship and fellowship.  I am so glad that we have found a way to be friends in a different setting.  Though I miss the daily contact, this is much more fun.

There is nothing better than a friend, unless it is a friend with chocolate.”

Jupiter Inlet Part 1

Sometimes life throws you a curve ball and you are not sure what the right answers are but you know that in the midst of it all you have created a relationship that you do not want to let go of.  This was one of those situations.  And so we decided to bypass the curve ball and find a common denominator - which is photography.  We both love to take photo's .
I have to tell you that I have two left feet, and eyes that do not coordinate with them.  I am going to blame it on my contact lens, but who knows, perhaps I am just totally uncoordinated.  So when I heard we were going to be climbing up Jupiter lighthouse, I was already envisioning the broken bones.  However, I was going to do this - this time was special and I really needed to be there.
The other thing about me is that if I have to drive more than 20 minutes - then I consider that going on vacation.  Today was a 1 day vacation 1 hour from home.  But I was excited to see my friend, to hug her, to tell her how much I miss her, and to just enjoy the day with her.
~~~~~~~~~
Gulp - we are going to climb to the top of that tower.  Did I say anything about height, and enclosed spaces, and edges that we may need to look over.  Not only are we going up, we are doing to have to come down as well.
That balcony does not look that wide and I am not sure how many people it can take - did I mention I don't particularly like heights.  Oh and I am accident prone, and the thought of coming back down just scares the bejeebers out of me.
But I suck it up and up we go, to what feels like the top of the world, while thinking all the time, I got to come down, don't slip, don't break anything.
But nothing could be better than being on top of the world with my friend.  I love that we have found something we both have in common, the love of the camera.
The view from the top was amazing and I love how these bridges go up and down to let the boats through.  I am used to it now, but the first time I saw this I could have sat and watched it all day.  Oh yeah - small things....
The Jupiter inlet looked so inviting - you almost want to hire a boat just to ride in and out.
Sort of like this person.
or this one...
or maybe even one of these....
I love the dome of the lighthouse with all the different patterns of glass.  This was my first time up in a lighthouse and I thoroughly enjoyed the view.
Part of me had to stop and think about the important role lighthouses have played in history.  This particular light house was designed by Lieutenant George G. Meade, and was completed in 1860.  By day passing ships were signaled by flag, and at night, by flares.  If you want to read more about Jupiter Lighthouse click on the link.  Of course, I discovered that the round port hole windows were great for taking pics of yourself.
 Overall I can rate this as a Rainbow kind of day. Always beautiful to see, especially when it has been a foggy kind of week.
If you enjoyed this pictures stick around for the next blog, which will be pictures once we reached the ground.
